Program Overview
The Opportunities Fund is a federally-funded program that provides employment assistance to individuals with a self-identified disability to support them in a successful return to work
- Facilitates access to job opportunities for participants by providing a wage subsidy for employers

Opportunities fund staff will communicate with and negotiate wage subsidy agreements with your potential employer.

This program is geared to support individuals who:
- Are seeking long-term full time or part time employment
- Require assistance to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment
- Self-identify as having a permanent disability that affects your chosen career path
- Are unemployed or under-employed
- Reside in Central Alberta and are legally entitled to work in Canada

The Opportunities Fund helps individuals to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. It offers a range of activities that can be tailored to meet the individual needs of persons with disabilities to facilitate their integration into employment. The Opportunities Fund also provides financial assistance for training, wage subsidies and adaptive or assistive equipment.
This project is available to persons who self-identify as having a permanent disability that affects their chosen career path and who:
- Reside in Central Alberta and are legally entitled to work in Canada
- Require assistance to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment
- Are seeking long-term employment either part or full time
- Require assistance finding or developing a career path
Through the Opportunities Fund, you may be eligible to receive funding for one or more of the following:
- Skills upgrading or tuition for short-term training to obtain employment
- One-time costs that are directly related to employment (e.g., specialized clothing, applications, tools, transportation etc.)
- Adaptive equipment or assistive technologies that is required for employment or training
- Wage subsidy to provide financial reimbursement to employers who want to hire and train eligible job seekers
