Does EPSS have Community Access based groups that I can join that are for People with Developmental Disabilities?

The Community Inclusion Program is designed to connect you to activities in your community that are available to all in your community. We will from time to time organize a group activity that assists with creating a community connection.

Does EPSS keep part of my wage or receive money from an employer after I get a job?

All of EPSS’s employment programs including ICE do NOT take any money from the employer or portion of your wage. The ICE program is funded by Disability Services (formerly Persons with Developmental Disabilities) and therefore there is no cost to the participants in the ICE program or employers that hire anyone involved with our programs.

Will you give me a job? Do you have jobs waiting to be filled?

EPSS will assist you to find employment that matches your interests, skills and abilities, and provide you with support throughout the job search process. We are not a third-party employment agency.

Do I have to live in Red Deer to access services?

Each program that we offer has its own service area identified.

Can anyone use the Job Search Resource Center?

The Resource Room is available to individuals participating in the Red Deer Employment Services program and is not open to the general public. Through the Job Search Resource Center, participants have access to job search tools including: Computers; Fax Machine; Scanner; Photocopier; Phone; Job & community resource boards; Educational and training opportunities and Onsite staff to assist with job search.

What types of support do you offer once an individual is placed with my company?

Our Employment Specialists will offer individualized assistance to both the new employee and the employer.  Assistance may be offered through a combination of in-person, phone, or email communication.

Are you a Temporary Placement Agency?

No, our services are available to unemployed/under employed job seekers who are interested in assistance in areas such as: career planning, learning job search strategies, increasing their marketable skills, and networking with employers.

Is there a cost to post a job with your agency?

As our services are funded by the multiple funders, including the provincial government (Community and Social Services) and the federal government (Service Canada), therefore there is no cost for employers to access our services.

Can your agency help me get connected to other resources in the community?

YES! We know many different resources that are available in different communities throughout Central Alberta. We can help you get connected to community providers that can assist with housing, food, clothing, and much more. Speak with one of our Employment Specialists about how we can get you the connections that you need.

Does your agency provide job leads?

We provide much more than job leads! We can help you develop skills to improve your job search and get you well prepared to employment. Our Employment Specialist speak with employers on a regular basis and can help you make connections that work for you.

Does your organization only provide assistance to individuals who reside in Red Deer?

Many of the services that we offers through our agency provide assistance to individuals who reside in the communities surrounding Red Deer or throughout Central Alberta. Please call us to inquire about the services that you are seeking to see if they are offered in your community!
