Pillar Program

Residential Disability Support Workers - Casual

 EPSS’s Pillar Program is recruiting for casual positions in our residential homes.

 When submitting resume and cover letter, please include specific information regarding the types of complex needs experience that you have (i.e. Autism, FASD, Addictions) and the number of months/years’ experience.

 Duties Include:  Providing support to individuals with a developmental disability who also have a variety of complex needs which may include:

  • Autism
  • FASD
  • Mental Health
  • Addictions
  • Behavioral Concerns
  • Multi System Involvement - example: legal system

 

Assisting with:

  • Medications
  • Routine housekeeping tasks
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Accessing community activities and resources
  • Promoting general skills development in the areas such as: home living, social development, community participation, and leisure education

 

Skills Required:

  • Able to effectively communicate with others
  • Excellent ability to creatively solve problems and
  • Strong knowledge of behavior supports strategies
  • Work efficiently within a team environment
  • Skilled in the area of conflict resolution
  • Strong critical thinking skills

 

Experience Required:  A minimum of 3 years paid work history in a residential setting preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities and complex service needs as identified above.

 Education:  A diploma or degree in Human Services combined with direct experience with the target population is preferred, however; years of experience combined with other relevant courses or training may be considered in lieu of the diploma or degree.

 Wages and Benefits:  Starting wage is $24.25/hour.

Career Counsellor/Marketing Specialist - Contract Employment Opportunity

 

We are seeking an experienced individual who is highly motivated, confident, and creative who can connect with area employers and assist job seekers (re)enter the labour market.

Employment Placement and Support Services (EPSS) is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to providing individualized services that promotes each participants strengths and assets.  Our Marketing Specialist position is an opportunity to meet the needs of both unemployed individuals and Employers looking for innovative ways to enhance and diversify their staffing compliment.

 

We are seeking an experienced individual who is:

  • -Able to provide one-on-one supports to individuals to assist them with career planning, employment preparations, active job search, and employment maintenance
  • -Comfortable designing and facilitating life skills and job search related workshops
  • -Familiar with local employers and current labour market trends and capable of marketing clients to potential employers to promote successful employment outcomes
  • -Able to build and maintain strong employer networks
  • -Capable of matching individuals with businesses looking for employees
  • -Aware of service providers and community resources available within Central Alberta and able to make referrals when necessary
  • -Familiar with factors that may impact employment including: mental health concerns, and developmental and physical disabilities and able to work collaboratively with stakeholders such as caseworkers and guardians
  • -Efficient in paperwork, data collection and meeting deadlines
  • -Proficient in Microsoft applications with strong communication, documentation and data entry skills

 

Additional Information:

This position requires out of town travel to locations within Central Alberta including: County of Red Deer, Counties of Ponoka, Lacombe, Clearwater and Mountain View. This area includes the communities of Blackfalds, Innisfail, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Rimbey, Ponoka, Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, Olds and Sundre as well as all smaller rural communities in the counties.

 

Desired Requirements Include:

  • Proven track record of successful direct client marketing
  • 2 Years of Related Post-Secondary Education
  • Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Child Intervention Check
  • Reliable vehicle and Drivers Abstract
  • Familiarity with Mobius an asset

 

 

Work Hours: 37.5 hour work week (generally Monday to Friday. 8:00 to 4:30 pm) with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Wage: $24.90 / hr

Start Date: As soon as the qualified candidate is identified.
